Day 5 Portland to Newbury

Posted by: Anthony Hewitt

A big detour East for the Newbury Spring Festival but they were worth it! Perfect weather and a nice tail wind which was welcome relief as I had really sore legs from the previous few days. 125km ride to Newbury and the last 20 felt like 100 but my friends from Twickenham Cycling Club pulled me in.

Some interesting town names today: Double Wallop and Three legged Cross! In the New Forest we stopped at a Parish Hall who gave us each a cup cake as replenished! I managed to sneak in another my fellow riders have dubbed me Tony two cup cakes! The atmosphere in the Market Square and I was only mildly disappointed that the cheering was for the football and not for me!
